How we tested

  1. 1

    Same prompts for every model

An indie pop song with a verse and chorus, a boom bap rap verse with a hook, and a lo-fi cinematic instrumental. Each model got the same style description and, where it accepts lyrics, the same words.

  2. 2

    One take each, no cherry-picking

We ran every model once on October 31, 2026, through the same providers Songluna AI uses (Kie for Suno, WaveSpeed for the rest), and kept the first result. A failed run counts as a failure; we did not retry for a better take.

  3. 3

    Measured, then published as-is

We timed each request, measured the track length, and transcribed every vocal take with Mureka’s lyric recognizer to see how many of the written words were sung in order. The clips above are 30 seconds from the first sung line, otherwise unedited.

Choosing a Suno alternative

Start with the reason you want to switch: different voices, a different editor, more control over length, or another account and pricing model. A music app may offer several underlying models, including Suno itself, so check which engine the app uses for your chosen workflow.

What you want to changeWhat to compare
The music modelListen to matched prompts, check lyric handling, duration, output quality and the cost of another take. The test on this page covers five model alternatives available in Songluna AI.
The app and accountCheck the editor, current export rules, available models, credit expiry and the terms for your intended use. These vary by platform and can change independently of the model.

Other apps to evaluate include Tad AI, Musely and MusicWave. Use their current product, pricing and terms pages to check the features you need. We have not run those apps through this benchmark; the measured results below come from the models accessed through Songluna AI’s providers.

What the test showed

  • Lyrics: every model that takes lyrics sang at least 89% of the written words in order. HeartMuLa matched 100% on both vocal prompts, Suno V6 100% and 98%, MiniMax Music 2.6 98% on both, Mureka V9 98% and 95%, and ACE Step 1.5 95% and 89%.
  • Speed: ACE Step 1.5 (19 s to 36 s) and Suno V6 (28 s to 36 s) were the fastest. MiniMax Music 2.6 was the slowest, up to 148 s for the instrumental.
  • Length: from the same short lyric sheets, Suno V6 wrote short songs (0:45 and 0:32) while Mureka V9 ran to 1:24 and 2:40. ACE Step 1.5 always returns the length you set (2:00 here). HeartMuLa's instrumental stopped after 0:21.
  • Instrumental: Lyria 3 Pro (2:58), Suno V6 (2:48) and Mureka V9 (2:59) returned full-length pieces; Lyria 3 Pro takes no lyrics in Songluna AI, so it only ran this prompt.
  • Cost per song on Songluna AI: ACE Step 1.5 2 credits for two minutes, Mureka V9 and Lyria 3 Pro 5, Suno V6 and HeartMuLa 6, MiniMax Music 2.6 8.

One take per model is a snapshot, not a ranking: every model varies from run to run. Lyric accuracy comes from an automatic transcription, which can miss words that were sung clearly, and the recognizer is made by Mureka, one of the models tested. Use the clips to judge sound and vocals by ear. Mureka V9’s first attempt never reached the model because of a wrong endpoint name in our script; we fixed it and then ran each Mureka prompt once.

All six models run in the AI song maker, so you can try the same prompt on several of them through one Songluna AI account. Each run uses credits; new accounts get 8 free credits. These are model choices within one app, with Songluna AI’s own plans and music-use terms.

Which Suno alternative to pick

  • Closest to Suno for sung lyrics: HeartMuLa (100% on both) or MiniMax Music 2.6 (98% on both), at the cost of a longer wait.
  • Full-length songs from short lyrics: Mureka V9, which turned a six-line rap into a 2:40 track, for 5 credits.
  • Fast, cheap drafts and exact lengths: ACE Step 1.5, 1 credit per started minute and the length you choose, from 10 seconds to 4 minutes.
  • Instrumentals and background music: Lyria 3 Pro or Suno V6 in instrumental mode.
  • Want Suno itself? Suno V6 runs in the same app, so you can compare it with the alternatives on your own prompt.

Suno vs Mureka

In our test both sang the lyrics almost word for word: Suno V6 100% and 98%, Mureka V9 98% and 95%. Suno V6 was faster (28 s against 43 s for the pop song) but wrote much shorter songs from the same lyrics: 0:45 against 1:24 for pop and 0:32 against 2:40 for rap. On Songluna AI, Mureka V9 costs 5 credits a song and Suno V6 6.

What we did not test

We only include models we could run ourselves on the same day with the same prompts. Udio, ElevenLabs Music and other services are not available through our providers, so they are not in this test, and we do not rate tools we have not used. We will add models when we can test them the same way.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Suno alternative?

It depends on what you make. In our test HeartMuLa and MiniMax Music 2.6 sang lyrics as accurately as Suno V6, Mureka V9 wrote the longest songs, ACE Step 1.5 was the fastest and cheapest, and Lyria 3 Pro suits instrumentals. Listen to the clips above, then try your own prompt on two or three of them.

Is there a free Suno alternative?

Songluna AI gives new accounts 8 free credits without a credit card, enough for one Suno V6 song or up to eight one-minute ACE Step 1.5 tracks. Free-plan music is for personal use; paid plans include commercial use rights for eligible music.

Can I use Suno and its alternatives in one place?

Yes. Songluna AI runs Suno V6 alongside Mureka V9, MiniMax Music 2.6, HeartMuLa, ACE Step 1.5 and Lyria 3 Pro, all paid with the same credits.

Which model sings my lyrics most accurately?

In our test HeartMuLa sang 100% of the written words in order on both vocal prompts, followed by Suno V6 (100% and 98%), MiniMax Music 2.6 (98% and 98%), Mureka V9 (98% and 95%) and ACE Step 1.5 (95% and 89%). That is one take each, measured by automatic transcription.

Will I get the same results?

Not exactly. Every generation is different, even with the same prompt. The clips show one honest take from each model on October 31, 2026.

Did you test Udio?

No. Udio is not available through the providers we use, so we could not run it the same way, and we do not rate tools we have not tested.
